Module programming, coding, software updates, recalibration and tuning for almost every make — Audi, BMW, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Porsche, Ford, Chevrolet, GMC, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, Jeep, Subaru and more. Dealer-level software tools at an independent shop in Wayne, NJ, usually the same day.
What we program, code and update
- Control module programming — flashing and programming engine (ECU/ECM), transmission (TCM), body (BCM), ABS and other modules after a replacement, or to load the latest factory software.
- Software updates — manufacturer software updates that fix drivability issues, warning lights, transmission shift quality, infotainment bugs and more. Very common on Audi and Volkswagen; also BMW, Mercedes, Ford, GM.
- Coding & adaptations — coding a new or used module to your car, retrofits, feature coding, key and immobilizer matching where supported.
- Recalibration — steering angle sensor, throttle body and transmission adaptations, battery registration, electronic parking brake, TPMS, and sensor/module recalibration after a repair.
- Diagnostics that find the real fault — full-system scans with factory-level tools so you’re not paying to replace parts that aren’t broken. Have a code already? See our guide to 330+ common check engine and transmission codes.
- Tuning — ask us about ECU tuning and performance software for supported vehicles. We’ll tell you straight what’s available and what it does to your warranty and emissions compliance.
The tools we use
- VCDS & ODIS — Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, SEAT, Skoda: factory diagnostics, coding, adaptations and software updates.
- BMW ISTA — BMW and MINI factory diagnostic and programming system.
- Autel professional platform — dealer-level module programming, coding and calibration for Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Chevrolet/GM, Chrysler/Jeep, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai/Kia, Subaru and most other makes.
Not every reprogramming job is possible on every car (some require a dealer-only security login). Call or message us with your year, make, model and what you need — we’ll confirm before you come in.
Audi & Volkswagen specialists: the common ones we fix every week
- Audi amplifier failure — no sound from the radio. On many Audis (A4, A5, A6, Q5, Q7 and others) the amplifier fails and the whole audio system goes silent, or cuts in and out, even though the screen works. We diagnose it properly, replace or repair the amplifier, and code the new unit to the car.
- Audi MMI controller lagging or not responding. The MMI control knob and buttons sit on the center console right next to the cup holders, so water, coffee and soda get into the unit and it starts lagging, freezing or ignoring inputs. We repair or replace the MMI controller and get the system responding again.
- Audi / VW software updates. Many drivability complaints, warning lights, rough shifting and infotainment glitches are fixed by a factory software update — not a part. We check for and install available updates with ODIS.
- Coding after a repair. New battery (registration), replaced module, retrofitted feature — we code it so everything works and no warning lights stay on.
How it works
- Tell us the car and the problem. Year, make, model, and what it’s doing (or what was replaced). Book online or call 862-200-7040.
- We scan and confirm. A full-system scan tells us whether it’s a software issue, a coding issue or a failed part.
- You get a written quote. Itemized, before any work. Have a dealer estimate? We typically do the same job for 30–50% less.
- Same-day in most cases. Most programming, coding and update jobs are done while you wait or the same day.
Common questions
Can you reprogram a car module without going to the dealer?
Yes, for most makes. We use factory-level software (ODIS/VCDS for Audi-VW-Porsche, ISTA for BMW/MINI, and a professional Autel platform for Mercedes, Ford, GM, Chrysler/Jeep, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai/Kia, Subaru and others). A small number of jobs require a dealer-only security login; we’ll tell you up front if yours is one of them.
Which makes can you do software updates and coding for?
Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, BMW, MINI, Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, Buick, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Honda, Acura, Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Infiniti, Hyundai, Kia, Subaru, Mazda and more — almost every car on the road. Call with your year, make and model to confirm.
My Audi radio has no sound but the screen works. What is it?
On most Audis that’s a failed amplifier. It’s a very common issue on A4, A5, A6, Q5 and Q7. We confirm it with a diagnostic scan, then replace or repair the amplifier and code it to the car.
My Audi MMI knob is lagging or not responding. Can it be fixed?
Yes. The MMI controller sits next to the cup holders and liquid gets inside, which causes lag, freezing and dead buttons. We repair or replace the controller and get the MMI responding normally again.
Do you do ECU tuning?
Ask us. For supported vehicles we can help with ECU tuning and performance software. We’ll explain what’s available for your car and what it means for your warranty and emissions compliance before anything is done.
How much does programming or a software update cost?
It depends on the car and the module. Most coding, adaptation and update jobs are a fraction of the dealer’s price; we give an itemized quote before any work. Bring a dealer estimate and we’ll typically beat it by 30–50%.
Will programming at an independent shop void my warranty?
No. Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, having maintenance, repairs or software work done at an independent shop does not void your new-car warranty. Aftermarket performance tuning is different — we’ll explain that before you decide.
